Twitter Giving Correct Names To Everyday Things Could Give Tom Haverford A Run For His Money

@CorrectNames is a single-serving Twitter that creatively renames everyday objects and animals, much like Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) would rename objects and foods on Parks and Recreation:

We aren’t getting any more Parks and Recreation (bye bye, Lil’ Sebastian), but why stop giving new names to things? @CorrectNames was conceived by 19-year-old Mark Dempsey from Manchester, England. He told US Weekly that the nickname “bagel seeds” for Cheerios is his favorite one so far. That’s this one:

Dempsey came up with the idea for the Twitter account while on vacation. He told US Weekly, “I was talking to my mum and I forgot the name of an object I was trying to identify for her,” he continued, “I still can’t remember the object but all the various other names I came up with were quite amusing.”

The Twitter account has renamed nearly two hundred common things since this past April. Some of the new “correct names” were dash clever:

Animals were also given new names, although we take umbrage with renaming the humble “sea cow”…

Other animals were also dubbed with accurate monikers:

And other objects got the @CorrectNames treatment as well:
