Whoever says there is no money in art has it all wrong. Today the interwebs are ablaze with news that Andy Warhol’s First Self-Portrait To Sell For Upwards Of $7 Million USD. Yes, you read that correctly. The iconic artist first captured his own image using a strip of photographs inside a photo-booth at a dime store in New York City.
He then began capturing more and more self-portraits that became signature aspects of his work. This piece finds the artist rocking a pair of black sunglasses and will soon go up for auction through Sotheby’s. Interesting to say the least. If you are interesting, the piece hits the auction block in London this coming June 28th; make your wager.
